Cherry Valance

This week, I'm not introducing you guys to one of the boys in the gang, actually someone who is quite the opposite. This person is Cherry Valance. She is a redhead Soc girl, Bob's girlfriend, who Pony-boy meets at the drive-in when Dally is bothering her and Marcia. Most of the other Socs are stuck-up brats that always have everything handed to them, but Cherry is different. She's like Pony, she's a dreamer that's not like the other kids in her pack. Cherry is nice, caring, and stands up for what she believes in. She tries to get Pony to see how the Socs, like the Greasers, can also be individually unique and just as troubled. Cherry later then, acts as a spy for the greasers. She wants all of the fighting to end between the two rivals, and does whatever she can to balance out the two. In the book, she is described to be a beautiful red-headed cheerleader. That's it for this week.

Two-Bit Mathews

This week, I'm going to indroduce you to Keith Two-Bit' Mathews. Two-bit is the oldest in the pack, and as you might have guessed by his name, he's also the jokester of the group. He's the fun and talkative person that you like being around and makes uneasy situations lighter. Two-Bit makes a smart comment to say to anyone, even the cops. Everything seems funny to him, even stealing, which he does quite often. Two-Bit is kind of like a grown up kid, he likes cake and Mickey Mouse, but he also likes beer and cigarettes.(As seen in the gif above.) Physically, he is described to wear long and rusty side burns. He's about 6 feet tall and is quite pudgy with this pair of gray eyes. Two-Bit always carries around a handled switch blade that he has been sharpening for a long time (which he later then hands over to Dal). That's it for this week.

Sodapop Curtis

This week I'm going to introduce you to Sodapop Curtis, the middle child of the Curtis brothers. Soda is the happy-go-lucky brother who has a goofy grin that you can't help but love. He's the type of person who tries to understand what you're going through and help you out, even if he's never gone through it himself. Pony always goes to him when he's in trouble and he's always the one breaking things up between Darry and Pony, which is why he says it's "like tug of war" , because he's always torn between his two brothers. Sodapop is a high school drop-out and works at the local DX gas station. He claims that school is too boring for him and doesn't have any action. He likes a challenge which is the reason that  he likes fighting so much.  Soda is "movie star handsome" he has silky dark gold hair and these reckless dark brown eyes. That's it for this week.

Darrel Curtis

This week I'm going to introduce you to Darrel Curtis, the eldest of the Curtis brothers. Darry acts like a second father to his younger brothers. Even though deep down he loves his brothers very much, he has a different way of showing it. Instead of being caring and sweet all the time, he's strict and protective, but all of this is only so that he doesn't loose his brothers to a boys' home. As you may have assumed, Darry isn't really the type to always be goofing off and the joking type. Even Pony thinks of his oldest brother as someone who grew up too fast and as someone who has to deal with stressful things that no one his age should have to deal with. As you also may have guessed, Darry is very intelligent and is also athletic. Unfortunately, he missed out on the opportunity to go to college since he had to work ever since the boys' parents died. This is the reason that he's so hard on Pony and wants him to go to college. Darry is a very tall man with broad shoulders. He has dark brown hair with these eyes that "are like two pieces of pale blue-green ice." He is said to look exactly like his father except for different eyes. This video shows how strict he can be, but deep down it just means he cares. That's it for this week.

Ponyboy Curtis

I thought that for my next few blogs, I would introduce you guys to the boys, so that the people who have never read The Outsiders could get a better gist of the book. This week, I'm going to introduce you to Ponyboy Curtis, who is 14 and the youngest of the Curtis brothers. Even though Pony does exceptionally well in school, he lacks street smart, which gets him into trouble that could have well been avoided. Leading towards the end of the book, Pony matures with dealing with the death of two of his closest friends and getting enough experience so that he could take care of himself in the streets all alone. He's not necessarily like the other boys in the gang. Ponyboy is more of a dreamer that focuses more on movies, books, and sunsets rather than beating other people up. Ponyboy Curtis has long and greased brown, almost red hair (which becomes blonde at the end of the book), and "greenish-grey eyes." That's it for this week.

Dallas Winston

I thought that for my first blog post, I would talk about my favorite Outsiders character out of them all, Dallas Winston. To tell you the truth, I liked him the least out of the rest of the guys when I first started reading the book. I thought he was cold, heartless, and rude, but something about him starting to soften up towards the end and how he changed made me like him. For example, how he helped out Pony and Johnny when they were in a tough situation and during the burning of the church. He also went to help out the rest of the boys in the rumble, even though he was badly burned because of the church fire incident.  I also thought it was cool how he raised himself in a way and learned how to be his own family while growing up in the wild side of New York. I had different expectations of how Dally would look like in the movie, because of how the book described him with piercing blue eyes and wispy blond hair, but I started to get used to him with brown hair and eyes in the movie and still thought he was pretty attractive. That's it for this week.
