Ponyboy Curtis

I thought that for my next few blogs, I would introduce you guys to the boys, so that the people who have never read The Outsiders could get a better gist of the book. This week, I'm going to introduce you to Ponyboy Curtis, who is 14 and the youngest of the Curtis brothers. Even though Pony does exceptionally well in school, he lacks street smart, which gets him into trouble that could have well been avoided. Leading towards the end of the book, Pony matures with dealing with the death of two of his closest friends and getting enough experience so that he could take care of himself in the streets all alone. He's not necessarily like the other boys in the gang. Ponyboy is more of a dreamer that focuses more on movies, books, and sunsets rather than beating other people up. Ponyboy Curtis has long and greased brown, almost red hair (which becomes blonde at the end of the book), and "greenish-grey eyes." That's it for this week.

Dallas Winston

I thought that for my first blog post, I would talk about my favorite Outsiders character out of them all, Dallas Winston. To tell you the truth, I liked him the least out of the rest of the guys when I first started reading the book. I thought he was cold, heartless, and rude, but something about him starting to soften up towards the end and how he changed made me like him. For example, how he helped out Pony and Johnny when they were in a tough situation and during the burning of the church. He also went to help out the rest of the boys in the rumble, even though he was badly burned because of the church fire incident.  I also thought it was cool how he raised himself in a way and learned how to be his own family while growing up in the wild side of New York. I had different expectations of how Dally would look like in the movie, because of how the book described him with piercing blue eyes and wispy blond hair, but I started to get used to him with brown hair and eyes in the movie and still thought he was pretty attractive. That's it for this week.
